Living On Campus

If you are thinking about attending NIU you probably have many questions about your housing and dining options. You may be wondering where you'll live on campus and what amenities you'll have in your room. Or maybe you are trying to create a budget and you need to calculate the cost of living in a residence hall versus commuting from home or off-campus.

Our Mission: The Shelter Housing provides safe, secure, comfortable, accessible and healthy housing for its residents. Programming for residents builds communities in which students’ social needs for belonging, friendship, recognition, respect and dignity are met. These communities foster learning, personal development, academic achievement, and successful transitions for both new students and graduates.

Our Vision: Provide a safe and inclusive community where students are able to achieve success in obtaining their educational goals (curricular and co-curricular).
